Attention: Social Studies High School Teachers in the 19 Western Counties in Washington
There are only three slots available for the Judicial Institute for High School Teachers that will run from July 22-24 at the US District Court in Seattle. This all-expense paid program will increase your understanding of the US Constitution, federal and state law relationships, the newest free speech schools' case, and the judicial branch. You will have personal exchanges with the actual players in the court system. This year an experienced high school teacher who attended the program last year will help teachers with implementation in the classroom. Clock hours are available.
There are also still 15 slots available for 5th grade, middle, and junior high school teachers to attend the iCivics Institute. The all-expense paid institute runs from August 12-14 and will help you become proficient in using the free, online iCivics curriculum, including the video games. In addition, you will learn more about the Constitution, the federal courts, the relationship of the federal to the state courts and have actual experiences in the courtroom. An experienced iCivics junior high teacher will offer practical tips for implementation. Clock hours are available.
Both of the these institutes are limited to teachers from the 19 western counties of Washington.
