An Evening Book Discussion for Teachers with Dori Jones Yang, author of The Forbidden Temptation of Baseball and Mary Roberts, NCTA Seminar Leader

Teachers are invited to participate in an evening conversation with Dori Jones Yang about her latest book, The Forbidden Temptation of Baseball. In addition to writing several books, Yang previously worked as the foreign correspondent for Business Week in Asia. In this book, she weaves a historical fiction illustrating the life of Chinese boys sent to the U.S. in the 1870s for an American education. This book targets readers in grades 4-7 and the subject matter will interest teachers of any grade level. Yang and Roberts will explore the fascinating history underlying the book’s themes and discuss ways to connect students’ lives and experiences with those of other people in other times and places.

Note: Prior reading of the book is not required for this event.

Registration fee:

$15, includes a copy of the book on the day of the event, a light dinner, on campus parking and three free OSPI clock hours.
