Upcoming Euro Challenge competition for 9th & 10th Graders
The UW Ellison Center, a federally funded national Resource Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies (REECAS), is hosting this years’ regional competition for the Euro Challenge.
This is a great opportunity for teachers and teams of 3-5 9th and 10th grade students passionate about world history, European studies, economics, trade, and global business.
Working in teams, students make presentations to a panel of judges about the current state of the economy in the Euro Area. They also select a country and then identify, explain, and recommend a policy or policies to address an economic challenge facing that specific Euro Area country. Students in Washington State will compete in the preliminary competition on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the University of Washington. The judges will select one team to advance to the semi-final rounds that take place at the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City in April (all expenses paid).
