Planning for next year? How about inviting a judge to visit your classroom?

The Judges in the Classroom program, coordinated by the Administrative Office of the Courts, allows K-12 teachers to request that a judge visit their classrooms. Judges present age-appropriate lessons featuring Washington state law and practice.

The interactive lessons provide students with a unique opportunity to learn about the legal and judicial systems as well as the basic concept of fairness. Visit www.courts.wa.gov/education to find out more about the Judges in the Classroom program and to request a judge for your classroom.

What story would you cover and how would you gather the necessary information? Why do you think this is an important story to tell?” Over 350 students submitted well-thought out essays and judges selected the top three essays in each age category. Our World Educator Award will be awarded to a teacher who has gone above and beyond to encourage students to think about global issues, both in and out of the classroom. We are also very excited to announce that the keynote speaker for the event will be King 5 News anchor Margaret Larson! Margaret will share her experience as a broadcast journalist and foreign correspondent and highlight the importance of an informed and engaged global citizenry.
